I searched the Goldwing WEB Sites to find a mechanic who could be trusted to work on my treasured Wing, and Dave [AwingAway] is just that guy, so knowledgeable, spotted things that didn't sound right before he even got it in the garage.
Dave's thorough work ethic is evident in everything he does, even his approach to your bike.
I would and have recommended Dave to everyone I meet and even though it's a 60 mile trip to see him, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.

My nine year old GL1800 with 51,000 miles on the clock that I have had and loved from new developed a serious noise at tick over that sounded like a back of marbles rattling around the engine. The noise and vibration at tick over was unbearable. Turned out to be the Alternator Drive Gear (ADG) which sadly is major work and an engine out job. I made a few enquiries and spoke to a few dealers and then someone put me in touch with Dave at AwingAway. From the first contact I had with him I was impressed with his knowledge, his helpful manner and his professionalism. I rode the bike to him, (ironically with this serious defect the bike is still rideable in the short term as long as you keep the revs up when you stop) and gave him the go ahead to do the job. He was excellent; he kept me informed of the progress including sending me photographs and putting videos of the work on You Tube. We agreed a date that I needed the bike back and it was completed on schedule. He also fitted a new Zumo SatNav while the Wing was with him. I am very pleased with the work he carried out. I have now done 600 miles since the repairs and all is fine, well done Dave. I would not hesitate to recommend his services.

Thanks very much for doing a great service on my bike. It had been neglected for the last 18 months and was very much in need of servicing.
Dave was excellent, every day he would ring me to let me know how the work was going. He would always start with, do you want the "really bad news, the bad news or the good news" Sometimes even the very bad news wasn't that bad.
The bike was ready for collection like we had arranged when I dropped it off despite Dave being up against the clock towards the end, but he still had it ready, all washed and polished ready for me to ride away.
I can't recommend Dave enough; I will have no hesitation in taking my bike back to him in the future. Better still was the overall cost, given he had worked on the bike for five days, thanks.
